EIRNS—Over the next 48 hours, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will meet personally with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, according to today’s announcement by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Given the relaunching of the violent expulsion of the Palestinians, and Qatar’s call at today’s Gulf Cooperation Council for the international community to force Israel back to negotiations, the personal meetings take on a heightened significance.

President Putin will first travel to the U.A.E., and then to Saudi Arabia, for discussions on various matters, including cooperation in the oil sector and the present crisis in Gaza. Just last week, Saudi Arabia and Russia announced their coordination on more oil production cuts, bringing the total cuts to 2.2. million barrels per day.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi will meet with Putin on Dec. 7 in Moscow, where, according to Peskov, they will work on bilateral relations and cooperation in the oil sector, as well as international and regional issues, including the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A delegation of top-level officials along with representatives from Iran’s economic and trade circles will accompany Raisi, according to Iran’s Tasnim state news agency. [dms]
