Syrian Information Minister Blasts Qatar, Saudi Role

(EIRNS)—Attending a special session of the Russian State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications yesterday, Syrian Information Minister Omran Al-Zouabi said there is evidence that up to 85% of Syrian rebels are foreigners, and that the international propaganda war against Damascus, with its endless streams of absurd lies about Syria, would have been impossible without huge money and effort being put into them. Al-Zouabi’s visit to Moscow is an attempt to break through that wall of lies and bring the real truth to the world.

The fact that in the past three months, Syrian government troops have been successfully fighting the so-called rebels who infiltrated Syria from the outside, has not been reported with a single word about it on Western media. Instead, they keep predicting the fall of Damascus in a few days, illustrating those reports with fake video footage.

Some Western and Arab TV channels even seem to have been informed in advance about planned terror attacks in Syria and can therefore be regarded as accomplices, Omar Al-Zouabi said. "Saudi Arabia and Qatar offered handsome sums to Syrians, including journalists, for coming over to their side and saying what they wanted them to. Sometimes, they succeed in recruiting people, but the majority of Syrian journalists refused to swallow the bait."

According to the minister, dozens of Syrian TV channels and radio stations are receiving threats, and most journalists prefer to stay at home, because they fear for their safety. [RAP]
