Lombardy Regional Council Unanimously Passes Glass-steagall

(EIRNS)—In Italy, the resolution for Glass-Steagall introduced 10 days ago by the Maroni Group (12 regional councilmen of the Maroni Group, to which the new governor of Lombardy belongs, met by Movisol one month ago) was approved unanimously this afternoon during the regional council meeting. Even the Partito Democratico (Italian Democratic Party), which initially objected that there is not only a financial crisis, but also a production crisis, finally approved it, too. It also envisages special measures to issue credit if the banks do not. They will issue a press release, which we will get tomorrow. Similiar resolutions are now expected also in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia as a result of Movisol’s efforts. The Lombardy Region is the third-most important in Europe, economically, because of its concentration of industry, and especially small and medium-sized industries. [LIL] |
