The 19th century industrialization of the USA, on a nationalist program, spread outward as a shock wave of progress to Germany, Japan and Russia, fired up the imagination of the colonial peoples and threatened to sweep the British empire assassins into the trash. The world’s history since the 1870’s has pivoted on the fight to bring American-style modern powers over nature and modern conditions to the world’s population, most recently through the Presidencies of Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy.
