LaRouche Becomes Issue in British Liberal Attack on Tremonti

As the fight for Glass-Steagall gains momentum, the Inter-Alpha liberal faction is reacting with an escalation of the coup to oust pro-Glass-Steagall Economics Minister Giulio Tremonti from the Italian government, hysterically attacking Tremonti’s connection to Lyndon LaRouche as evidence of Tremonti’s hidden "anti-liberal" agenda.

The British-controlled faction around Berlusconi had launched a first coup last February, when Berlusconi was badly weakened by the sex scandals, convincing Berlusconi to outflank Tremonti, and launch a liberal "plan to whip-up the economy" with deregulations and privatizations. They had their man, journalist Giuliano Ferrara, draft it for Berlusconi and back the coup with a new daily TV commentary run by Ferrara, called "Here’s Radio London."

The second phase of the coup was launched yesterday through the new Culture Minister, Giancarlo Galan, who gave an interview to Berlusconi’s paper Il Giornale, calling for the removal of Tremonti. Galan claimed that if Berlusconi keeps Tremonti, a "socialist" and an anti-liberal, he will lose the elections.

As a part of this smear campaign, Il Giornale ran a few articles on Tremonti today, including a profile with a large box describing Tremonti’s "Pantheon." The Pantheon is composed of four figures: Alexander Hamilton, John Maynard Keynes, Jean-Baptiste Colbert, and Lyndon LaRouche. Portraits of these four figures, including LaRouche, are displayed in equal size pictures.

The box on "Lyndon Larouche" reads as follows: "Born in Rochester, U.S.A., [sic] in 1922, Lindon Larouche [sic] is considered a sort of perennial candidate to the Presidency of the United States, having established the record of eight consecutive efforts, the first in 1976 with the U.S. Labor Party. His detractors consider him an incorrigible Marxist-Leninist. His supporters [consider him] the real enemy of the forces who aim at implementing an imperial world government along a liberal matrix. In Italy, Larouche, who claims that ’the current world monetary system is hopelessly bankrupt,’ has had contact with Tremonti, who said he is a careful reader of his [LaRouche’s] anti-liberal and anti-Marxist writings."

Galan is a hard-core liberal fascist, who started out working for Berlusconi’s own publishing empire, Publitalia, before he went into politics. Publitalia was run by a notorious Synarchist, Marcello dell’Utri, an open admirer of Mussolini, who is now awaiting sentencing by the Italian Supreme Court for association with the Mafia. The court is expected to uphold a seven-year sentence for dell’Utri, who claims he convinced Berlusconi to enter into politics in 1994. Galan came out of the Italian Liberal Party, founded by Benedetto Croce. From 1995-2010, he was governor of the Veneto region.

After Galan’s attack on Tremonti, and the Il Giornale assault on LaRouche, Tremonti had a two-hour meeting with the Prime Minister yesterday, after which Berlusconi gave a lukewarm endorsement of Tremonti. But he did not fire Galan.
