As we reflect on today’s date, we have to look forward and fight for constructive peace. The bankruptcy of Wall Street will lead to World War III, without an orderly re-organization under a new Glass-Steagall Act. TRANSCRIPT MATTHEW OGDEN : Good evening. You are watching the weekly Friday evening webcast from LaRouchepac.com. My name is Matthew Ogden, and I’ll be your host tonight. I’m joined in the studio by Jeffrey Steinberg from Executive intelligence Review, and Jason Ross, from the LaRouche PAC scientific team. The three of us had an extensive meeting with Mr. LaRouche and Mrs. Helga LaRouche right before coming here record this broadcast. This broadcast is being pre-recorded, because of events that are happening up in New York City this weekend, which Jeff will personally be involved in, but the subject matter of our broadcast tonight is of crucial importance. Obviously, today is September 11, 2015, which marks the 14th anniversary of the very tragic events of September 11, 2001, in New York City and at the Pentagon. On this anniversary, this tragic anniversary, the irony could not be more clear, that the world is currently faced with. On the one hand you have Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is openly and clearly preparing some sort of aggressive military campaign, or otherwise, to crush ISIS, crush al-Nusra, and to make a decisive intervention into the situation in Syria. He’s doing this while calling for a great global alliance among powerful nations, to wipe out the threat of military jihadi terrorism, once and for all, both in this area, in Syria and Iraq, and worldwide. Simultaneously, U.S. President Barack Obama is continuing to cover up for the clear and apparent Saudi role in funding no only the 9/11 attacks — the original attacks on Sept. 11 — but also the continuation of this surge of military jihadi Wahhabist terrorism and ideology worldwide. President Obama continues to cover up the fated 28 pages of the Joint Congressional Inquiry Report on the 9/11 attacks, despite having promised members of the 9/11 families on two separate occasions that he would release these documents, the documents that were originally classified by George Bush and Dick Cheney ; and to rub salt into the wound, had the gall to invite Saudi King Salman to the United States for his first state visit and to host him, in the White House, exactly one week to the day prior to the 9/11 anniversary, thus continuing to grant his tacit support for the continued support by Saudi Arabia for this breed of militant jihadi terrorism worldwide — and the Wahhabist ideology which continues to spawn this terrorism across the planet. Now, this separation, this irony that we see now, which is being played out on the stage of Syria, but which is becoming the focal point for the world strategic situation, was described by Mr. LaRouche during his discussion with the LaRouche PAC Policy Committee this past Monday, which you viewed on this website, as a situation in which we see Russian President Vladimir Putin as the active player on the scene, who is operating from a positive of advantage. And you see President Obama operating from a position of weakness, reacting to the agenda which is being set by President Putin. A major element of this weakness is the fact that Wall Street, and the entire trans-Atlantic Wall Street system, is hopelessly and utterly bankrupt, and Obama represents that system, which is now collapsing around his ears. Now another element of this is obviously the drumbeat, the continued drumbeat for the release of these 28 pages of the 9/11 report, and that drumbeat only continues to grow louder. Obviously, there are advocates for this in both the United States House and the United States Senate, Congressman Walter Jones sponsoring a bill on the House side, Senator Rand Paul on the Senate side. But more and more people across the country are beginning to add their voices to this effort. And I know that this will be among the subjects that will be presented and discussed at this conference, which is going to occurring this weekend in New York City. This will be a major international conference sponsored by the Schiller Institute, the next in the series of the ongoing New Paradigm conferences, which will be taking place this Saturday, Sep. 12, and I know Jeff Steinberg will be one of the participants in this event, in addition to a number of other prominent persons, including former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, in addition to former U.S. Senator Mike Gravel — this was announced in an e-mail that went out yesterday from the Schiller Institute. Mike Gravel is famous for his role in exposing the so-called Pentagon Papers, and otherwise. And there will be other participants as well. This conference is titled : "Creating a Peace Paradigm : A New Era for Mankind Where We All Become Truly Human," and the subtitle is "The Showdown Between the Two Paradigms is Now." The conference will be taking place from 1 o’clock to 9 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, Saturday Sept. 12, and it’s available for you to attend. You only have to pre-register by contacting our New York City office. It will also be broadcast live over youtube, and will be available both as it’s happening and in recorded archive form. Now, the significance of this conference is that it’s occurring in New York City, in Manhattan, on the eve of the upcoming opening of the United Nations General Assembly for this year. This opening will occur officially next week, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and a lot of preliminary business will take place over the course of that week and the coming week, but the heads of all of the participating nations, will begin to arrive on Sept. 24. There will be business conducted from the 24th to the 27th, and then the major speeches that you know from the UN General Assemblies, will take place between Sept. 27 and Oct. 6. And the point that Mr. LaRouche wished to emphasize is that, over the course of the next month, beginning with the events on Sept. 12, with this Schiller Institute conference tomorrow, and going all the way through the conclusion of the United Nations General Assembly meetings on Oct. 6. This means that Manhattan will be the center of gravity for world political discussion and policy-making, and the so-called Manhattan Project, which we’re coming up upon the one year anniversary of the initiation of, which Mr. LaRouche launched, with the concentration of our movement’s efforts in New York City, will be a major player in shaping the course of those discussions and policy-making decisions. Of course, as we mentioned last week, there continues to be a petition circulating which is the resolution which Helga Zepp-LaRouche drafted, which continues to gain signatures of prominent people, both in the United States and worldwide, on the decision point, a new paradigm that must be created if the world is to survive and not face World War III. And the fact that the UN General Assembly meeting will be a nodal point, perhaps the last chance, in saving mankind from that sort of self-destruction. Let me ask Jeff Steinberg to come to the podium to tell us where we stand, in terms of what has occurred in the short amount of time since we appeared on this stage last week, especially having to do with the standoff between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the position of weakness that we now find U.S. President Barack Obama situated in. Well, those of you who saw last week’s broadcast will recall that we placed great emphasis on the fact that Russian President Putin had launched a surprise and dramatic flank against the war drive coming from President Obama and the Obama administration. Back a week ago, it was clear that, by intention, Russian President Putin was about to carry out a military deployment by the invitation of the Syrian government, to send Russian equipment, and Russian advisors, and ultimately Russian forces, into Syria, to carry out a crushing, conventional military operation against the Islamic State, and the other Salafist rebel groups, most notably the al-Nusra Front, which has now been absorbed into the officially Saudi-backed Army of Conquest. That flank alone represented a dramatic shift in the entire global strategic situation. It basically caught the Obama White House off guard, and it was consciously a move by President Putin to outflank those policies coming out of the Obama White House that were driving the world towards a strategic confrontation between NATO and Russia, and China as well, that would have, in all likelihood, led to a war of thermonuclear extinction. Now the danger of that war has not, by any means, abated, but as anticipated by Mr. LaRouche, President Obama, in the course of the last week, has fully walked into the trap that has been set for him inside Syria, by virtue of the fact that the Obama Presidency, as a subsidiary, owned entity of the British Empire, with its Saudi appendage, has been openly colluding with the Islamic State, with the Nusra Front, and other al-Qaeda-spawned organizations, all along. In our discussion just a few hours ago with Mr. and Mrs. LaRouche, the overwhelming point that Mr. LaRouche emphasized was that Obamas weakness and vulnerability comes not simply from this now-exposed flank of his active engagement and support of the Islamic front, al-Qaeda, and these Salafist-jihadi terrorist forces, but first and foremost, Obamas vulnerability comes from the fact that he is wholly owned by Wall Street and London, and Wall Street and London are going through an absolutely irreversible crushing bankruptcy. We saw some of the glimmers of this with the 2000-3000 point stock market crash adjustment that occurred just over the last couple of weeks. But the basic reality is that Wall Street is hopelessly, irreversibly bankrupt. Wall Street has not completely collapsed, because of an illusion that there is still a bailout in store for Wall Street, coming from the hides of American taxpayers, from European citizens through the QE policies of the ECB, and others as well. So, the fact of the bankruptcy is undeniable and irreversible. The best estimates are that there are between $1.5 and $2 quadrillion thats a thousand trillion dollars — of purely speculative gambling paper on the books of the U.S.-European and Japanese so-called too-big-to-fail banks. That debt is unpayable, is unsustainable, and it is a cancer thats destroying the economies of the trans-Atlantic region. It cannot last much longer, and the simple and obvious solution that well discuss in more detail a bit later in the show, is for the U.S. Congress to immediately enact the reinstatement of Glass-Steagall. Simply by reinstating Glass-Steagall, and forcing its signature by the President, through a veto-proof majority in both Houses of Congress, will bring an end to the fraud that the Wall Street bubble is anything other than thoroughly bankrupt. And under Glass-Steagall, we can go through an orderly process of re-establishing solvent but undercapitalized commercial banks, and the entire Wall Street bubble will come crashing down. Nobody will lift a finger to bail it out, because it can never be bailed out, and that Wall Street bubble will just simply crash into the bay. This will mean an enormous amount of vacant commercial real estate in the southern Manhattan area that can be put to good, productive use, very easily, and very quickly. And what we saw with the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt, provides us with all of the emergency measures that need to be taken along with Glass-Steagall, to set the United States, and the world economy, back on a course of recovery. Now, of course, when Wall Street goes down, London goes down. When London goes down, Obama goes down as well. And in fact, its the control of the Obama presidency, the illusion that somehow hes somewhat in charge of things, but is actually completely under the thumb of London and Wall Street,—once Obama is removed, and the 25th Amendment is the perfect immediate vehicle through which to do that, then we also eliminated the danger of war. Because the only motive for Wall Street and London ordering Obama to carry out provocation after provocation against Russia and China, is the fact that, in their desperation, the people sitting on top of this mountain of unpayable debt, are trying to bluff Russia and China into capitulation, so that they can be looted to perpetuate that debt bubble a little bit longer. Its sheer madness, but in this case, its the madness that not only drives the world towards war, but its the madness that explains exactly why the 25th Amendment is the appropriate instrument to bring Obama down now, before there is a provocation that forces Russia to respond in retaliation, and suddenly, were off on the path of thermonuclear extinction. Now, President Putins action in Syria, which we announced on this show one week ago, is now an open secret. Its been confirmed by official statements from the Russian government. Its been confirmed by the Obama Administration, through a series of interviews given by unnamed Administration officials, from the White House and from the Pentagon, over the last 24-28 hours. We know for a fact that a number of large Russian military cargo planes have arrived in Syria over the past week, have delivered the kind of added military firepower that will assure the survival for the time being, of the Assad government, and the next step is going to be an offensive operation by the Syrian Armed Forces, with Russian assistance, against the Islamic State, against the Nusra Front, and against other of these jihadist forces. There is a danger in this situation, quite obviously. In fact, there are some leading American political figures, who openly say that their fear is that were heading into a new Cuban Missile crisis, with the one enormous difference that there is no comparison between President John F. Kennedy and President Barack Obama. Having a madman at the helm at a moment of potential strategic superpower confrontation, is one of the greatest dangers that mankind has ever faced, and we cannot ignore that. But the actions taken by President Putin, in putting Russian military force directly behind the war against the Islamic state and the Nusra Front, and the Army of Conquest, inside Syria, has fundamentally changed the strategic picture, in a very important, and very potentially positive, way. Now, you’ve got an immediate hair-trigger situation that has also developed around this serious situation. The Obama White House, late last week, concluded that the Russian actions were "bad" — no explanation given. And in fact, the White House view is quite contrary to other elements within the US government ; within the Pentagon, within the intelligence establishment, within the State Department. Some of the ideas about Russia stepping in to defeat the Islamic State were, in fact, openly discussed back in the Spring when Secretary of State Kerry was in Sochi, meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and with President Putin. President Putin put on the table that Russia intends to play a major role in the global war against terrorism ; against the legitimate terrorist groups. So, there are some inside the US governing institutions who say, "Good ; if we can work on this in a coordinated fashion, then we can crush these networks and the world will be a better place as a result." But President Obama, being an instrument of this British Empire/Wall Street/Saudi apparatus, has no interest whatsoever in defeating the Islamic State or the Nusra Front. In fact, in the last several weeks, General David Petraeus, who is officially back working as a National Security Council advisor and advisor to President Obama on the situation in Iraq and Syria, has openly stated that the United States should embrace and work with the Nusra Front ; as if al-Qaeda is somehow or other a kinder and gentler form of Salafist[ph] terrorism to the Islamic State. Now, we know that for the past several years, under the guise of fighting against the Islamic State and the earlier al-Qaeda forms that that group had formerly taken, has been openly providing assistance to those very groups to carry out a campaign to overthrow the Assad government in Syria. Remember, without any intelligence briefings on feasibility or anything like that, in August of 2009, President Obama had publicly stated that Assad has got to go ; as if he could wave a magic wand and remove him from office. So, Obama is on record as saying that the priority from his standpoint is the elimination of Assad ; even if it means installing an Islamic State government on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean. Now, this is not something that we’re conjuring up. The former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, General Michael Flynn, openly told al-Jazeera in a July 29, 2015 interview that he warned the Obama White House that providing arms from Benghazi into the Syrian rebel groups that were fighting against the Assad government, would lead to the establishment of a jihadist caliphate on the territory of Syria and Iraq. He made that warning in 2012 ; he repeatedly went to the White House as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency. And as he told al-Jazeera, those warnings were not simply ignored ; it was not a matter of benign neglect, but a willful policy decision was made by Obama to continue to provide support to the Nusra Front, to what emerged as the Islamic State. And that’s continued through to the present day. The fact that they control vast swathes of territory in northern Syria, is because of the fact that the United States, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others, participated in a de facto no-fly zone over that northern region of Syria. Remember, at the behest of Turkey, NATO countries including the United States deployed Patriot missile batteries right up to the Turkish-Syrian border ; meaning that any Syrian military aircraft, government aircraft trying to carry out either close air support for Syrian ground troops battling ISIS in Nusra, or carrying out bombing operations in the north of the country, would run up against the threat of NATO military action. So, under the guise of defending from Syrian air incursions into Turkish air space, the United States, Turkey and other NATO countries created a no-fly zone ; an area where ISIS and Nusra could operate free from the threat of air operations. So, the area of Aleppo, most parts of northern Syria, have been turned over the jihadist control ; and responsibility for that reality falls directly on the shoulders of President Obama. So, this is known ; and President Putin, recognizing that vulnerability, made the one kind of flanking move that was guaranteed to completely flip out the White House — particularly President Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Michelle Obama, that inner circle. And that was for Russia to make a genuine move into Syria to defend a sovereign government under attack from jihadist forces ; and to prepare to carry out credible military operations that can wipe out ISIS and the Nusra Front in a short period of time. Since the Russians made that initial move, which we reported to you, our listeners and viewers, a week ago, the Obama administration has responded predictably according to profile. The United States began putting pressure on NATO allies ; we know the case of Bulgaria and Greece, to not allow Russian planes to carry out over flights over their air space to get into Syria with humanitarian aid, as well as the military assistance that the Russians are openly and legally providing under bilateral treaty agreements that everybody in the world knows about. So, this week, Bulgaria fell into line and announced that they were going to deny Russian planes access to air space over Bulgaria. The case of Greece is a bit more uncertain ; there have been conflicting reports. And of course, there’s no Greek government right now, because there will be new elections on the 20th of September ; and Greece has been subject to the kinds of genocidal austerity policies that have also been characteristic of the Obama administration on the United States. So, Iran has stepped forward and has said that Russian planes will be granted over flight permission over Iranian air space ; but if you look on a map of the region, once Russian flights have passed over Iranian air space, to get into Syria they have to either over fly Iraqi or Turkish air space. Now in the case of Iraq, the US Air Force effectively controls the air space over Iraq. In the case of Turkey, which has been a critical factor in the promotion and support of ISIS and the Nusra Front, Turkey has in the past, forced Russian aircraft to land and be searched before moving on to Syria. In our discussion just a few hours ago with Mr. and Mrs. LaRouche, the overwhelming point that Mr. LaRouche emphasized was that Obama’s weakness and vulnerability comes not simply from this now-exposed flank of his active engagement and support of the Islamic front, al-Qaeda, and these Salafist-jihadi terrorist forces, but first and foremost, Obama’s vulnerability comes from the fact that he is wholly owned by Wall Street and London, and Wall Street and London are going through an absolutely irreversible crushing bankruptcy. We saw some of the glimmers of this with the 2000-3000 point stock market crash "adjustment" that occurred just over the last couple of weeks. But the basic reality is that Wall Street is hopelessly, irreversibly bankrupt. Wall Street has not completely collapsed, because of an illusion that there is still a bailout in store for Wall Street, coming from the hides of American taxpayers, from European citizens through the QE policies of the ECB, and others as well. So, the fact of the bankruptcy is undeniable and irreversible. The best estimates are that there are between $1.5 and $2 quadrillion that’s a thousand trillion dollars — of purely speculative gambling paper on the books of the U.S.-European and Japanese so-called too-big-to-fail banks. That debt is unpayable, is unsustainable, and it is a cancer that’s destroying the economies of the trans-Atlantic region. It cannot last much longer, and the simple and obvious solution that we’ll discuss in more detail a bit later in the show, is for the U.S. Congress to immediately enact the reinstatement of Glass-Steagall. Simply by reinstating Glass-Steagall, and forcing its signature by the President, through a veto-proof majority in both Houses of Congress, will bring an end to the fraud that the Wall Street bubble is anything other than thoroughly bankrupt. And under Glass-Steagall, we can go through an orderly process of re-establishing solvent but undercapitalized commercial banks, and the entire Wall Street bubble will come crashing down. Nobody will lift a finger to bail it out, because it can never be bailed out, and that Wall Street bubble will just simply crash into the bay. This will mean an enormous amount of vacant commercial real estate in the southern Manhattan area that can be put to good, productive use, very easily, and very quickly. And what we saw with the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt, provides us with all of the emergency measures that need to be taken along with Glass-Steagall, to set the United States, and the world economy, back on a course of recovery. Now, of course, when Wall Street goes down, London goes down. When London goes down, Obama goes down as well. And in fact, it’s the control of the Obama presidency, the illusion that somehow he’s somewhat in charge of things, but is actually completely under the thumb of London and Wall Street,—once Obama is removed, and the 25th Amendment is the perfect immediate vehicle through which to do that, then we also eliminated the danger of war. Because the only motive for Wall Street and London ordering Obama to carry out provocation after provocation against Russia and China, is the fact that, in their desperation, the people sitting on top of this mountain of unpayable debt, are trying to bluff Russia and China into capitulation, so that they can be looted to perpetuate that debt bubble a little bit longer. It’s sheer madness, but in this case, it’s the madness that not only drives the world towards war, but it’s the madness that explains exactly why the 25th Amendment is the appropriate instrument to bring Obama down now, before there is a provocation that forces Russia to respond in retaliation, and suddenly, we’re off on the path of thermonuclear extinction. Now, President Putin’s action in Syria, which we announced on this show one week ago, is now an open secret. It’s been confirmed by official statements from the Russian government. It’s been confirmed by the Obama Administration, through a series of interviews given by unnamed Administration officials, from the White House and from the Pentagon, over the last 24-28 hours. We know for a fact that a number of large Russian military cargo planes have arrived in Syria over the past week, have delivered the kind of added military firepower that will assure the survival for the time being, of the Assad government, and the next step is going to be an offensive operation by the Syrian Armed Forces, with Russian assistance, against the Islamic State, against the Nusra Front, and against other of these jihadist forces. There is a danger in this situation, quite obviously. In fact, there are some leading American political figures, who openly say that their fear is that we’re heading into a new Cuban Missile crisis, with the one enormous difference that there is no comparison between President John F. Kennedy and President Barack Obama. Having a madman at the helm at a moment of potential strategic superpower confrontation, is one of the greatest dangers that mankind has ever faced, and we cannot ignore that. But the actions taken by President Putin, in putting Russian military force directly behind the war against the Islamic state and the Nusra Front, and the Army of Conquest, inside Syria, has fundamentally changed the strategic picture, in a very important, and very potentially positive, way. Now, you’ve got an immediate hair-trigger situation that has also developed around this serious situation. The Obama White House, late last week, concluded that the Russian actions were "bad" — no explanation given. And in fact, the White House view is quite contrary to other elements within the US government ; within the Pentagon, within the intelligence establishment, within the State Department. Some of the ideas about Russia stepping in to defeat the Islamic State were, in fact, openly discussed back in the Spring when Secretary of State Kerry was in Sochi, meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and with President Putin. President Putin put on the table that Russia intends to play a major role in the global war against terrorism ; against the legitimate terrorist groups. So, there are some inside the US governing institutions who say, "Good ; if we can work on this in a coordinated fashion, then we can crush these networks and the world will be a better place as a result." But President Obama, being an instrument of this British Empire/Wall Street/Saudi apparatus, has no interest whatsoever in defeating the Islamic State or the Nusra Front. In fact, in the last several weeks, General David Petraeus, who is officially back working as a National Security Council advisor and advisor to President Obama on the situation in Iraq and Syria, has openly stated that the United States should embrace and work with the Nusra Front ; as if al-Qaeda is somehow or other a kinder and gentler form of Salafist[ph] terrorism to the Islamic State. Now, we know that for the past several years, under the guise of fighting against the Islamic State and the earlier al-Qaeda forms that that group had formerly taken, has been openly providing assistance to those very groups to carry out a campaign to overthrow the Assad government in Syria. Remember, without any intelligence briefings on feasibility or anything like that, in August of 2009, President Obama had publicly stated that Assad has got to go ; as if he could wave a magic wand and remove him from office. So, Obama is on record as saying that the priority from his standpoint is the elimination of Assad ; even if it means installing an Islamic State government on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean. Now, this is not something that we’re conjuring up. The former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, General Michael Flynn, openly told al-Jazeera in a July 29, 2015 interview that he warned the Obama White House that providing arms from Benghazi into the Syrian rebel groups that were fighting against the Assad government, would lead to the establishment of a jihadist caliphate on the territory of Syria and Iraq. He made that warning in 2012 ; he repeatedly went to the White House as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency. And as he told al-Jazeera, those warnings were not simply ignored ; it was not a matter of benign neglect, but a willful policy decision was made by Obama to continue to provide support to the Nusra Front, to what emerged as the Islamic State. And that’s continued through to the present day. The fact that they control vast swathes of territory in northern Syria, is because of the fact that the United States, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others, participated in a de facto no-fly zone over that northern region of Syria. Remember, at the behest of Turkey, NATO countries including the United States deployed Patriot missile batteries right up to the Turkish-Syrian border ; meaning that any Syrian military aircraft, government aircraft trying to carry out either close air support for Syrian ground troops battling ISIS in Nusra, or carrying out bombing operations in the north of the country, would run up against the threat of NATO military action. So, under the guise of defending from Syrian air incursions into Turkish air space, the United States, Turkey and other NATO countries created a no-fly zone ; an area where ISIS and Nusra could operate free from the threat of air operations. So, the area of Aleppo, most parts of northern Syria, have been turned over the jihadist control ; and responsibility for that reality falls directly on the shoulders of President Obama. So, this is known ; and President Putin, recognizing that vulnerability, made the one kind of flanking move that was guaranteed to completely flip out the White House — particularly President Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Michelle Obama, that inner circle. And that was for Russia to make a genuine move into Syria to defend a sovereign government under attack from jihadist forces ; and to prepare to carry out credible military operations that can wipe out ISIS and the Nusra Front in a short period of time. Since the Russians made that initial move, which we reported to you, our listeners and viewers, a week ago, the Obama administration has responded predictably according to profile. The United States began putting pressure on NATO allies ; we know the case of Bulgaria and Greece, to not allow Russian planes to carry out over flights over their air space to get into Syria with humanitarian aid, as well as the military assistance that the Russians are openly and legally providing under bilateral treaty agreements that everybody in the world knows about. So, this week, Bulgaria fell into line and announced that they were going to deny Russian planes access to air space over Bulgaria. The case of Greece is a bit more uncertain ; there have been conflicting reports. And of course, there’s no Greek government right now, because there will be new elections on the 20th of September ; and Greece has been subject to the kinds of genocidal austerity policies that have also been characteristic of the Obama administration on the United States. So, Iran has stepped forward and has said that Russian planes will be granted over flight permission over Iranian air space ; but if you look on a map of the region, once Russian flights have passed over Iranian air space, to get into Syria they have to either over fly Iraqi or Turkish air space. Now in the case of Iraq, the US Air Force effectively controls the air space over Iraq. In the case of Turkey, which has been a critical factor in the promotion and support of ISIS and the Nusra Front, Turkey has in the past, forced Russian aircraft to land and be searched before moving on to Syria. So, in other words, in effect, Obama’s response to a sensible and legitimate move by Putin has been to impose a blockade ; or at least attempt to impose a blockade on Russian assistance to the Syrian government. How this will play out over the coming days remains to be seen ; but the directionality that Obama has taken is sheer madness, and now puts the Syria-Iraq situation in the same basic framework where an over flight incident, an incident between American F-22s that are flying unauthorized combat operations into Syrian air space with Russian planes that are, in some cases, probably on the ground and in others may be arriving very soon. You see the danger here ; you see the potential for a replay of the kinds of things that Kennedy and Khrushchev had to deal with in October of 1962 at sea because of the US naval blockade of Cuba. And as I said earlier — and Mr. LaRouche clearly agrees with this — President Obama bears no resemblance to President John F Kennedy. Now, you also have the fact that we’re broadcasting on September 11 ; we’ve prerecorded today, September 10. But September 11 is the 14th anniversary of the original 9/11 attacks, and is the 3rd anniversary of the attacks in Benghazi, on Obama’s watch, when the US ambassador and three other officials were killed by the very al-Qaeda group that Obama has persisted in aligning with, in providing weapons and other air support and other means in order the Assad government even if it results in the establishment of an even deeper jihadist stronghold on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean. As Matt indicated, a week ago today, the King of Saudi Arabia was in Washington, meeting with President Obama at the White House. This was tantamount to spitting in the faces of all of the survivors of the original 9/11 attack and the Benghazi attack and the family members and others who were victims of those tragedies. And President Obama persists in refusing to declassify the 28 pages from the original Congressional Joint Inquiry that would expose the level of Saudi government support for the 9/11 hijackers. Just as the bankruptcy of Wall Street ultimately can never be hidden, can never be prevented ; the same thing can be said for the truth about 9/11. Ultimately the truth will come out ; the sooner the better. But in the meantime, every moment that President Obama persists in aligning himself and by extension the United States so long as he’s in office with the Anglo-Saudi apparatus that was behind 9/11, this will remain a national shame and a national tragedy. So, all of the reasons are there ; all of the evidence is available. The question is, is it not the time for President Obama to be removed from office ; and aren’t there men and women of sufficient character in the Obama Cabinet who know that they should be invoking the 25th Amendment before some further tragedy occurs. Obama is going down with Wall Street ; there is no mistaking that. The key question is, will that be carried out in an orderly fashion through the re-instatement of Glass-Steagall ; which ends the power of the London/Wall Street empire, which brings down Obama. Will that happen before some provocation coming from Obama on orders from the British, results in some major military tragedy — perhaps leading up to and including a war of thermonuclear extinction ? That’s the issue that’s on the table right now ; and the root cause is the fact that London and Wall Street are bankrupt. And that fact can never be forgotten until we’ve put that whole structure through an orderly bankruptcy reorganization, and launched the kind of proper economic recovery that Americans in the past have been able to accomplish. OGDEN : Thank you very much, Jeff. Now, our next question is precisely on that theme ; and it links directly the refugee crisis, the people who are fleeing en masse the effects of the wars in the Middle East and North Africa — especially Syria. It links this to the collapse of the trans-Atlantic financial system. And I’m going to have Jeff answer this in brief ; and then we’ll have Jason elaborate on a little bit more detail of what the positive solution must be to this. So, the question reads as follows : "Dear Mr. LaRouche, the German government will spend an extra EU6 billion, or approximately $4.4 billion to cope with this year’s record influx of refugees. This has been announced by the country’s ruling coalition. Both state and local officials will receive EU3 billion to help them house the 800,000 people who are expected to arrive in Germany this year. And central government plans to free up another EU3 billion to fund its own expenses ; such as paying benefits for the new arrivals. Leaders from Angela Merkel’s coalition also agreed on other measures, such as speeding up asylum procedures, and the construction of shelters. The question is, in your opinion, what type of economic and social implications will this have in Germany ?" STEINBERG : The policy that’s been adopted by the German government is really quite extraordinary. It represents a dramatic shift in German policy. Remember, just weeks ago, Germany, through Finance Minister Schäuble, was insisting on imposing brutal, really murderous conditions on Greece in the terms of the third bail-out. And we’ve seen that process playing out over the course of the last 18 months. But as the result of what I would describe as a general outpouring of humanitarian impulse from the population of Germany — the man on the street — the Merkel government has done a dramatic about face ; and has taken the lead in Europe in saying that Europe has an obligation to do something about the humanitarian catastrophe that’s been brought about by the wars that were created by the Obama administration, the Bush administration before it, with ample support from the British government of Tony Blair, the French government of Hollande and the Sarkozy government before it that brought us the Libya fiasco that we’re still living down. So, Germany has gone through a very dramatic turnaround ; it almost reminds me of "A Christmas Carol," where suddenly Scrooge developed a heart and a soul. But the point is deeper ; that the German government, having broken from this policy of austerity and closed borders, and opening its arms to 800,000 largely Syrian refugees this year and 500,000 a year for the indefinite period forward, has changed the character of Europe in a very positive and fundamental way. It also has profound implications for Germany, to effectively absorb millions of refugees, Germany is going to have to go through a rather profound change in economic policy. Germany also always has represented in the postwar period, the economic and manufacturing and scientific and technical engine of Europe. That has declined greatly in recent years ; but to effectively absorb these immigrants, Germany is going to have to go back to those classic policies. They’re going to have to go through a high-tech industrial expansion ; they’re going to have to participate outside the borders of Germany in the entire Eurasian LandBridge policy that has been adopted and is being actively promoted by the Chinese government under President Xi Jinping. It means Germany re-aligning with Russia ; cooperating on the development of eastern Europe and on into Russia and beyond into Asia, where the Asia-Pacific region now as a whole is the real economic engine for the planet. So, it means Germany breaking with the policies of austerity, radical Green ideology, and de-industrialization under that Green ideology, that has destroyed the economies of the trans-Atlantic region over the recent decades. So, Germany is making a profound and fundamental intervention into the global situation and into the Eurasian situation by demonstrating a certain act of kindness and also strategic urgency being responded to here. So, Germany is going to have to go through a fundamental economic policy shift ; which will mean Germany being more and more integrated into the one-belt, one-road policy, into political and economic cooperation with Russia. There’s been an historic ostpolitik of Germany that goes all the way back minimally to the Chancellorship of Bismarck ; when Bismarck intervened against war in continental Europe by reaching certain diplomatic and economic agreements with Russia. So, Germany has a history and has a capacity to carry out this kind of dramatic policy turn in what we’ve seen in response to this immigration, this refugee crisis. An actual moral stance being taken by the German government, means that they now must go the next step and must make the necessary changes in political economy to be able to successfully follow through on the implicit humanitarian pledge that they’ve made to these refugees, who are victims of the wars of the Anglo-Americans of the last 30 years. OGDEN : Thank you, Jeff. Now, I’d like to invite Jason to come to the podium to elaborate a little bit more of the general necessary positive solution. As Mr. LaRouche was specifying today, the utter bankruptcy of the Wall Street and trans-Atlantic system immediately implies not only Glass-Steagall, which will shut down the entire thing and put it through a bankruptcy reorganization the way that Franklin Roosevelt did it, but also a new credit system. We’ve seen a lot of this over the last year in terms of discussion that’s come out from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which was initiated by China, and the BRICS New Development Bank, which is in the image of what Mr. and Mrs. LaRouche have fought for for 40 years, in terms of a new international economic order and what was originally dubbed the International Development Bank. But what this implies in the United States is of immediate relevance, and urgent significance. And on the subject of this new credit system, I’d like to have Jason come to the podium. JASON ROSS : Thanks. Well, I think it’s also very interesting to compare the situation we’re in today with how the US has acted historically. To draw a few comparisons, if we look at the time after World War II, for example, where the Marshall Plan provided credit for the rebuilding of Europe ; allowing Germany to have an economic miracle at that time. If you look at MacArthur’s involvement in the reconstruction of Japan, which suffered an amazing economic development in that postwar period, based on the concepts of the Meiji Restoration from the previous century. If you look at the policies adopted postwar in Korea by President Park then, modeled on this Japanese approach, you see an incredible — one more example, sorry. The Civil War ; Lincoln’s reconstruction efforts in the South, the work that Ulysses Grant did in the South to develop that part of the country. Continuing on into Franklin Roosevelt’s time and the Tennessee Valley Authority, which among the Four Corners projects that Roosevelt implemented, the South saw the greatest benefits, the most dramatic transformation in living standards, how people lived, thanks to the integrated economic development of the Tennessee Valley Authority. Which was a model for economic development and resource management for the world. Compare that to now. We have just heard about the refugee situation and that being discussed. Over half of the population of Syria is now not living in what had been their homes ; either as internal relocated people, as refugees in other nations. Millions of Iraqis, Afghanistan is a mess ; just contrasting the post-World War II or post-Civil War reconstruction efforts with what we’ve seen in these countries I think is very, very telling. So, we now have an opportunity, thanks to this flank that’s being opened up by the actions of Putin in Syria, and also in a similar way the actions of China towards Afghanistan, and getting real development in that nation. That as part of the one-belt, one-road, the New Silk Road, the projects being led by China for internal improvement ; land-based development across the Eurasian continent and beyond. Projects that in their overall form have been promoted by the LaRouches for decadeS now ; we see an opportunity for the US to join in on this, and to take an approach that is in keeping with our historic identity with the work of Washington and Hamilton towards creating a national economy, towards having national credit available to finance the development of industries for the improvement of the nation. With the "Second American Revolution" of Abraham Lincoln, and its follow-through by Grant ; and then again, in the time of Franklin Roosevelt. I’d like to read a short quote from Roosevelt’s 1933 First Inaugural Address. He said then : "Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion ; rejected by the hearts and minds of men. True, they have tried, but their efforts have been cast in the pattern of an outworn tradition. Faced by failure of credit, they have proposed only the lending of mere money. Stripped of the lure of profit, by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations ; pleading tearfully for restored confidence. They know only the rules of the generation of self-seekers ; they have no vision. And where there is no vision, the people perish." Roosevelt continued : "The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit. Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money ; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. The joy and moral stimulation of work no longer must be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits. These dark days will be worth all they cost us, if they teach us that our true destiny is not to be ministered unto ; but to minister to ourselves and to our fellow men." In Roosevelt’s work, coming into office at a time when the great number of the banks of the nation had ceased to function, where an assassination attempt took the life of a major mayor intended for Franklin Roosevelt, occurred before his inauguration, Roosevelt — as you heard in this, the difference between money and credit — came in through banking reorganization. Through the passage of Glass-Steagall, the 1933 act that viewers of our website are no doubt familiar with, that separated investment banking, commercial banking, and insurance ; made it possible to separate the real economy from Wall Street. Something that we must again urgently do again today ; to separate ourselves from the sinking carcass of Wall Street and the City of London. To free our productive energies to free credit for the promotion of true wealth creation of real productivity. Despite all the innovations that Wall Street claims to have created over the decades — some very exotic ones over recent times — these innovations of Wall Street have had no positive effect on the real economy. Quite the contrary. So, if we throw this off, when we pass Glass-Steagall, when we reinstate this separation ; when we no longer tie our fate to that of investment banks, and open ourselves up to playing the role that we’ve had in the past — the role that was initiated during that first Washington administration through the role of Hamilton — we see a world in which we can play a very major and productive role in this sense. One increasingly dominated by that frankly originally American outlook that’s being implemented today by the BRICS nations through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, through this new Silk Road. And by ourselves joining in in this policy orientation, in this economic orientation, we can rebuild our physical economy ; we can become a productive nation. And we can become a leading scientific nation in a more profound way ; where projects that have been deliberately underfunded, such as the research on fusion energy, can achieve their full potential. And we can invest in the true creation of economic wealth, which lies for our species as for no other, in the development of the creative powers of our minds to transform our relationship to nature, and increase the number of people that can be supported. That is the heart of economics ; that very basic measure of the potential population density of the human species is the metric that LaRouche adopts in his economics courses, economics outlook, to distinguish in a very fundamental way, a global increase in the powers of the species physically, from adding up monetary profits, which is the approach of Wall Street. And the crisis today, the opportunity to have a major flanking change on the political front and on the economic front, allows us to regain that ability to truly be Americans. And if we set off on a trajectory of recovery, there’s quite a bit we can do ; and it can occur very rapidly, led by that reinstallation of Glass-Steagall. OGDEN : Thank you very much Jason.
